Welcome to a School New Year!

My name as you probably already know is Ms. Alegna Lara but I prefer Ms Lena. I teach English for 6th and 7th grade; sometimes for 8th. I am fluent in both English and Spanish. I come from Caracas, Venezuela and was raised in Miami, Florida. I love to read any book. I am a big fan of the Harry Potter series and a bigger fan of anything that is animated. I also love to go to the movies and do so quite frequently. My biggest wish is to be able to see Italy, Ireland, Spain, Japan, China, and England sometimes during my life time. I don't want to see them all at once I want to see them one by one to really be able to say I've been there.

As I am an English teacher we will be reading quite a bit and writing even more so. I am also a terrible speller. I use spell check all the time so I fault no one for small errors but I do, if I catch them, point them out to try and help you. I am trying to help you learn not make you hate the material. I want you first and for most to understand what you are doing wrong rather than just tell you it's wrong. If you don't understand what you did wrong; How can I expect you to correct it?

For my students there will be separate blogs for each of your grades. The blogs will be updated daily and a paragraph is made for each of the blocks.

A word to the new students coming into our school; my classroom is in building 5 room 201. You can take either of the stairs but if you take the stairs that have the giant bamboo plant on the left side it will be faster to get to my class room as it is on the left right after you come up the stairs. Second classroom to your left; you will notice on the door it has my name and I will be standing at the door waiting for the school bell to ring. I must warn you that once that bell rings and the door is shut there is no opening it unless you have a pass from an administrator. As per usual there is a white board, desks are in the middle in rows, there is two cabinets that are both on the back right hand side of the room used to store books for silent reading on Fridays. My desk is located in the back as well on the left hand side of the room. I hope this somewhat gives you an idea of what you are walking into on your first day.

Good luck on your first day students!
